Sara Afflerback, MA
Research Assistant
safflerback@organizationalresearch.com
Sara holds a Master’s in Applied Sociology from the University of Central Florida, where she taught and evaluated various undergraduate courses including Social Theory, Sociology of Family, and Sex and Gender in Society. Sara comes to ORS with a research-intensive background (particularly, qualitative), including her thesis and articles on motherhood and consumption, an earlier study of LGBT and sexual politics, and an evaluation of her university’s Victim Services programming. Her career trajectory changed when she realized she was carrying out meaningful research and only sharing it with a handful of others in the discipline. ORS appealed to her in that her research efforts would be outcome-based and thus, contribute to social change.
Consistent with that appeal, Sara has two years of nonprofit experience with Planned Parenthood, providing nonjudgmental education and services to patients. Additionally, she founded and led various student activist organizations that brought awareness to issues of gender inequality, sexual orientation, sexual assault, domestic violence, and reproductive health.
Sara looks forward to hiking, kayaking, eating eclectic food, exploring the neighborhoods of Seattle, and of course, visiting her sisters, dogs, and the sun in South Florida.

Emily Boardman, BA
Research Assistant
eboardman@organizationalresearch.com
Emily Boardman joined ORS in September 2011 in a Research Assistant capacity. Emily earned a BA in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2009. As a student she spent a semester in a community health experiential learning program in South Africa through the School for International Training; while there she had the opportunity to assist with health promotions research for the Center for AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA). She is the recipient of a Richard A. Gephardt Institute for Public Service fellowship for her work with the St. Louis Crime Victim Advocacy Center. Her professional and volunteer endeavors have always centered around social justice, and have included work for a community mental health agency, an anti-discrimination law practice, a rape crisis hotline, and the local Child Care Resources office. She is always learning and enjoys trying out new skills and activities; current favorites are step aerobics, quilting, and reading up on theories of adult community education. Emily is excited to have joined the fantastic ORS team.

Jim Sluga, BBA
jsluga@organizationalresearch.com
Jim has worked in various capacities with ORS since 2001. From pitching in to move our office (twice) to helping design many of the internal systems, he's available to fill in where needed and is at his best when doing a variety of tasks.
Although his degree is in Management Information Systems, by nature Jim is equally left-brain/right-brain wired which allows him to be linear in thinking when needed as well as a very creative problem solver. He is well-versed in many areas including web development, graphic design, desktop publishing, systems analysis, programming, bookkeeping, training/technical manual writing, training, office management and administration, to name a few.
He brings perspective from many different industries including insurance, utilities, finance, legal, construction, real estate and consulting. "I love working with smart people."
